No-Bake 4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Energy Bites are a quick, simple, make ahead snack for on the go!
I love a recipe that I can whip up in a couple of minutes with ingredients that I always have on hand! This is one of those recipes. These tasty little energy balls only have 4 ingredients: oats, peanut butter, maple syrup, and chocolate chips.
They could’t be easier to make. Just stir all the ingredients together, chill for about 30 minutes, then pat into balls.
I’ve always been a huge fan of the peanut butter and chocolate flavor combo! However, I’m sure any nut butter, like almond butter, would be great in this recipe.

I didn’t have pure maple syrup, so I just used sugar-free pancake syrup, and it worked awesome! Thank you for this recipe!

I toasted the oats on the stove with some cinnamon, added honey instead of maple syrup and it was incredible. Everyone LOVED them.
These are delicious! It is a wonderful snack and very easy to make. Thank you.
I followed the recipe as directed but I also added coconut, delicious!
Can we eat oats raw? Are we supposed to cook or bake them first?
There’s no reason you need to cook oats first, totally fine to eat them raw
Has anyone tried making this without any syrup or honey? I am trying to avoid added sweetness if I can.
I make these all the time without syrup or honey, or even the chocolate chips. I simply do peanut butter, oatmeal and raisins. …You can pretty much mix whatever you like together – just be certain to keep them cold until you are ready to eat.
I made them and cut the recipe in 1/2. I ran out of maple syrup so I added honey to the maple syrup and it was delicious. Still made 10 good size snacks with half the recipe and a little less than 100 cal a snack.
So quick an easy! If you need a little extra pick me up I also add Nestle espresso chips with my chocolate chips — PURE GOLD! I also recommend heating your peanut butter in the microwave for about 15 seconds for easier mixing!
This is delicious great recipe, thanks for sharing
These are DELICIOUS!! And sooo easy to make! Thank you for sharing!
I’m allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. I use Sunbutter (sunflower seed butter) instead.
tastes amazing and works perfectly we added extra chocolate chips and it tasted amazing toatally recomend these.
amazing recipe
Quick and easy to make. I used syrup and honey. Also used Lily’s semi sweet baking chips. They’re sweetened with stevia so less sugar. I was able to roll mine immediately.
These are SO good. I added a couple of fresh rasberries (mostly mashed) to the mix and they are *unbelievable*. Highly recommend.
I used 2 teaspoons of powdered stevia and 1/3 cup of almond oil. It still needs a bit more texture. I will add almond milk next time. The maple syrup is unnecessary and will only add a ton of sugar. You don’t need that.
Such a simple and awesome recipe. I had a few packets of instant flavored oatmeal (brown sugar) so I used this too and the flavor was amazing!
Maple syrup is expensive, can I use pancake syrup instead and how much?
I added coconut, flaxseed, used almond milk instead of coconut milk, and added a few butterscotch chips. It was great!
How long can you store these? Going on a road trip with a portable fridge.
Hello stupid question but do you cook the oats first? I’m not into cooking or baking so I really dont have a clue TIA
Delicious! Easy to make and such a treat. I use a ripe banana instead of the maple syrup and add 1/3 cup unsweetened coconut. My daughter is allergic to peanuts so I make them with almond butter for her. Recipe easily adapts to your needs. Store in the refrigerator if you use a banana. You don’t cook the oats.
I used honey instead of maple syrup and coconut instead of chocolate chips and i also added a small dash of vanilla essence and they tasted amazing
I used cashew butter! Yummy!
I added Chia seeds, coconut and cacao powder and honey instead of maple syrup and rolled them in coconut to finish.
Can you use honey in place of the maple syrup
I added some raisins and milk. IT ended up really liquidy, I don’t know why, but it tasted really good.
Because you added milk.
Milk is a liquid. If you add liquids to things, they become liquidy
well said 🙂 hahah
Can I use honey 🍯 instead of maple syrup?
I did, they were great!
I did too! They’re delicious with honey. I added some coconut too 😋
Did you try the honey instead of maple syrup?
Also, we do dark chocolate chips. Yum!
I love this recipe and make a double batch because they go so fast! Doing a double batch, instead of 2/3 pure maple syrup, I only do 1/3 cup – still taste great, and I think that means less sugar??
Also, we do dark chocolate chips. Yum!
I’m loving this but binding the individual bites together is giving me a difficult time. I’m using organic creamy peanut butter, organic pure maple syrup, ghiradelli chocolate chips and quaker old fashioned oats. Any tips?
Try adding 1/2 cup of ground flax seeds. It might help.
I use a ripe banana instead of the maple syrup. I also add 1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut, just because we like it! Less sugar and they form into balls easily without refrigerating first. They have to be stored in the frig because of the banana. But are delicious!
refrigerate
Can I use one minute oats?
I did, they tasted great with them! I’m not sure if that will change after they’ve been in the fridge for a few days, but I don’t anticipate them lasting that long!
Thanks for the tip that milk makes it better.
The tip to add flaxseed flour if it’s too sticky had me stumped what to do with the food I have on hand. Powdered milk cures the stickiness perfectly
To reduce fat and sugar I made this with PB2 and sugar free maple syrup and it turned out really well!
Do you know the adjusted calories with your mods? Thanks!
How?? I tried and I couldn’t. I was using creamy richard’s peanut powder with water and it didn’t look well lol
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! I love how you made it simpler by just adding the chocolate chips right in!
My kind of snack! I think almond butter would be yummy too!
I did put almond butter instead of peanut butter and added two ripe bananas and ground flax seed. Yum!
How much flax seeds did you put?
